Eligibility
Students who will have completed the M.DevEng requirements are eligible to graduate. If you have any questions about your eligibility, please reach out to an M.DevEng Advisor.
Any M.DevEng student with an estimated graduation term of Fall 2022 can participate in our December 2022 commencement as long as they RSVP! Students who have not completed their credits by December 2022 are still eligible to RSVP and register for this semester’s graduation. Make sure to speak to an M.DevEng Advisor regarding completing your requirements as soon as possible.
Visas
Please email devenginfo@berkeley.edu to request a formal letter of invitation to our graduation ceremony. We are happy to help any of our students get their families the proper documentation necessary to join them for graduation.
Ceremony Information
Individual names will be read at commencement, along with a short statement about the student’s journey in the M.DevEng program. View the RSVP form for further details about the statement that will be read.
The commencement ceremony should last around an hour and a half.
Students can order their cap and gown anytime at this link. Your Master’s hood color should be Orange. Please note if they do not have pick-up at the student store, it takes 7 to 14 business days (Monday – Friday) for delivery. Please order your regalia ASAP.
There is no official option to rent a cap and gown; however, please check out UC Berkeley Free and For Sale on Facebook for students selling their gowns. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact devenginfo@berkeley.edu, and we can coordinate other alternatives to purchasing a cap and gown.
The M.DevEng ceremony will not be using printed tickets for the commencement ceremony. In the RSVP form, students will indicate how many guests they intend on bringing to graduation. Each student will receive up to four guests, and seating will be first come, first served. Students who submit an exception to bring more guests will be notified after the RSVP deadline if the request can be granted, based on the capacity of the venue and the total number of expected guests. Your RSVP’d guests will check-in the day of graduation.
The photo you submit doesn’t need to be a professional headshot photo. You can crop an existing photo or have a friend take a photo of you. If you prefer, you can email devenginfo@berkeley.edu to request that one of the DevEng staff take a photo of you at the Blum Center, and we will coordinate a time with you.
Miscellaneous
Diplomas are mailed four months after graduation to the diploma mailing address in Cal Central. Please see these instructions on how to check and update this address prior to graduation. If you would like more information about electronic diplomas, please visit this website.
To be a part of the Cal Alumni Association will email you near your graduation with information on joining upon your graduation. If you do not receive that email, please visit this website!
